Our organic winery run by the family is located in the south of Austria (Styria, “Südsteiermark”) on the mountain called “Sausal” (siliceous primary rocks). Our doing is based on the principle that we are only guests on our earth and that our earth needs to be sustained for future generations. We are working according to biodynamic guidelines and are a member of demeter since 2003.
No sulfites, no kind of additives and no preservatives are added to all our wines. They are fermented grape juice, nothing else! The wines are traditonally made, develop without any technical manipulation and are bottled without filtration. Our winery is a closed ecological circle and lively farm organisam due to our cattle. Working in the vineyards and in the cellar is done mainly by hand e.g. open mash fermentation with manual “pigeage” and the mash is scooped by hand (no use of mash pumps).
Our wines may be described as deep going, fine structured, very mineral due to the “Sausaler” soil, full of energy and power within the meaning of liveliness and vitality. Emphasis is on caring for the planet while producing organic wine of the highest quality which is taste and agreeability alike.
