MACERATION IN WHITE WINES: GOING BEYOND FADS
Tasting lead by Samuel Cogliati
Sala Piranesi
Saturday February 21st, 15:00 hrs
When, several years ago maceration of white grapes made its timid appearance on a market with narrower views than today’s – the public split between enthusiasm and rejection. Some then said it was just a short-lived fad. In real terms, these wines – that in the UK have been named “orange” due to their intense hues – reflect a more articulate identity, resisting banalisation. That of macerated whites, is a complex relationship with the terroir, the grape, the vintage, the vinification style and the desired result.
