Wine personalities: Giovanni Scarfone
Giovanni Scarfone in his small winery, Bonavita, produces a few thousand bottles of the historical “Faro”, a DOC wine typical of the Messina area with ancient origins; however only but a few vignerons are nowdays producing it. This unusual wine is made of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Nocera grapes and Giovanni’s Faro stands out both for its sustainability and its special elegance and subtlety that seems to reflect the beauty of his vineyards overlooking the sea. It is good example of the great potential that this Sicilian terroir can express. Besides Faro, Bonavita produces what we think is one of the most delectable rosé wines in Italy.
